Kathryn & Adam | Classic & Elegance at the Highlands

Kathryn and Adam’s wedding was classic & elegance at the Highlands. The day was such a perfect mix of timeless Detroit architecture, city energy, and classic romance. Every part of their wedding felt effortlessly elegant, but still so them — calm, joyful, and full of love.

We started the morning at the Marriott inside the Renaissance Center, where both the bride and groom got ready. The hotel’s big windows overlook the river and the Detroit skyline — the light that poured in that morning was unreal. Kathryn’s details were a dream to photograph — her timeless gown, delicate jewelry, and chic bouquet of calla lilies.

Once everyone was ready, we headed over to Old St. Mary’s Church in Greektown for the ceremony. This church is so ornate, historic, and full of character. The ceremony was heartfelt, and watching Kathryn and Adam see each other for the first time down the aisle was one of those moments that gets everyone emotional (myself included).

After the ceremony, we made our way to the Detroit Institute of Arts for portraits — one of my go-to spots for wedding photos. The white marble steps behind the museum are such a clean and timeless backdrop. The bridal party looked amazing lined up on the steps in their black attire and I went with more dramatic, structured poses to match their aesthetic and vibe.

Their reception took us back to the Highlands in the Renaissance Center, which sits at the top of the city with panoramic views of the Detroit River and skyline. The space is modern and sleek, and was accompanied perfectly by simple, yet stunning centerpieces. From the heartfelt speeches to the rowdy dance floor, the whole night was full of laughter and those little candid moments I love capturing.

Kathryn and Adam’s wedding day truly showcased the best of Detroit — from the historic Greektown charm to the modern elegance high above the city lights. It was an honor to capture it all and celebrate with such kind, genuine people.
