Edgy Elegance: A&A's Classic Detroit Engagement Session Captured

When it comes to engagement sessions, choosing the ideal backdrop is always one of the hardest parts especially in the colder months in the Motor City. As we journeyed through two remarkable locations in Detroit, their trust in my process and recommendations blossomed into a beautiful collection of photos that reflects their chemistry and charisma.

Museum of Love Stories

Our first stop was at the Detroit Institute of Arts. This venue is renowned not only for its impressive art collections but also for its stunning architecture. The exterior always serves as a perfect setting for couple's portraits. A&A told me they felt a bit nervous about being in front of the camera, but as long as you come ready, willing and open, it is always my job to make you look good and I think we accomplished just that.

Urban Vibes and Rooftop Reflections

After the museum, we ventured to our second location: a rooftop overlooking Capitol Park in downtown Detroit. As we made our way up, A&A seemed to relax even more, embracing the vibrant city life and enjoying the skyline. This is one of my favorite rooftops in the city because I feel like it best showcases the charm of urban Detroit. When I work with my clients, I typically like to run them through my standard poses that I do, and then when I feel like they have warmed up in front of the camera and my methods, I like to embrace more playful prompts like running and lifts and then play around with various techniques like drag shutter and dutch angles to offer additional variety in my galleries.

Woodward Avenue is for Lovers

As we concluded the session, we decided to take a little stroll along Woodward Ave. to add a few extra backdrops to this classic Detroit engagement session before we ended and putting their black and white outfits against Greyson's black storefront added such a nice classic touch.

Classic Detroit Engagement Session

Engagement sessions are more than just about outfits or poses; they celebrate love in its many forms. A&A’s session demonstrated that with a bit of trust, creativity, and the right atmosphere, even the most camera-shy couples can shine.
