Choosing your wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions you’ll make during the planning process. Your photographer is not only responsible for capturing and storing the moments you’ll look back on, but we also typically spend more time with you than any other vendor on your big day.

If you’re searching for the right wedding photographer for you, it’s not just about loving their style. It’s about understanding how they work, how they handle real wedding day situations, and whether or not their approach aligns with your vision. Having questions to ask a wedding photographer before bookingcan help you feel confident and prepared to make the decision.

Think of this as your go-to guide for asking the right questions, feeling confident in your choice, and walking into your consults informed and ready to find your photographer.

  1. How would you describe your photography style?

  2. How many weddings have you photographed and how many do you typically take per year?

  3. Can we see a full wedding gallery from start to finish? (I recommend seeing between 3-5 FULL wedding galleries. Not just highlight galleries. Also, with AI making thing possible with the click of a button, sometimes you even need to ensure the people and places are real. As if planning wasn't hard enough, amiright?)

Approach & Connection

  1. How do you help couples feel comfortable in front of the camera?

  2. How involved are you during the day? Are they more hands on or documentary style?

  3. What moments do you prioritize capturing on a wedding day?

Coverage & Logistics

  1. How many hours of wedding day coverage do you recommend?

  2. Will you be the one photographing our wedding, or do you work with associates?

  3. Do you work alone or with a second photographer?

  1. How many photos can we expect in our final gallery?

  2. How would you describe your editing style?

  3. What is your turnaround time for receiving our full gallery?

  4. Will our images be delivered in an online gallery, and can we share it with family?

  1. What is your backup plan if you’re sick or an emergency happens?

  2. Do you have backup camera equipment with you on the wedding day?

  3. Does your cameras have 2 cards slots for SD cards? (A professional wedding photographer should always be recording to 2 SD cards on each camera throughout a wedding day.)

  4. Are you insured?

  2. Can we order albums or prints through you?

  3. How long do you archive our wedding photos?
